Furniture looks gorgeous when new. But as they begin to wear off with time, instead of enhancing the beauty of the room they degrade it. This problem is more persistent with lawn furniture which is constantly exposed to severe sunlight and varied ranges of humidity, both of which are deadly enemies to furniture health.

In case of certain simple scratches on the furniture you can try to repair it yourself. Here are some simple repairing steps by which you can consider.

Coloured Furniture Polish

To mend light scratches coloured furniture polish can be used which is easily available. Just by following the label instructions you shall get superb results. First clean the furniture surface thoroughly with soft and clean cloth and then lightly apply the polish on the scratched area.

Another good option is the colour filler crayon which is much more durable and effective. Select the crayon which is nearest to the furniture colour, rub it gently into the scratch then polish using a soft cloth.

Gloss Acrylic Paints

To match with the furniture tone blend gloss acrylic paints. Select three colour tones from the wood’s grain: dark, light or medium. Apply the medium tone to the entire area and then use the dark one to insert the grain effect. Now cover the repaired area with a thin coat of transparent nail polish as soon as the pain has dried off. Next paint the dented area using fitting colour. The painting has to be done using artist brushes.

Coloured Filter Crayons

For dents which are less than a quarter inch deep you can use colored filter crayons. Apply the crayon layer by layer allowing sufficient time in between to dry it off. In order to stuff larger dents use coloured wood filler putty which matches the furniture colour. For best results abide by the instructions of the manufacturer which is available on the pack or comes as a booklet within the packet.

Epoxy Body Filler

Use epoxy body filler to repair large areas and edges for painted surfaces. Mix the hardener and the putty and then apply it on the dinged area. Apply enough so that it can accumulate a little more along the edges’ original line. Now use sandpaper to level it down. Now finish it off by applying a thin layer of transparent nail polish on the surface of the wood furniture. If you face any problem, simply follow the instruction provided by the manufacturer along with the product. They are easy to follow and execute.
